The title of this post is “Times” because it’s the best english translation I could think of for the Spanish word “etapa”.

It’s sort of like time, kind of like seasons, yeah closer to seasons now that I think about it.

But used like “This is a cool season of my life.”

Anyways, something I’ve been thinking about a lot lately. I used to hate this concept, I thought people used “This is just a ____ time in my life” to justify not actually taking the right actions (which might still be true), but I’m starting to realize more and more how it works.

In the words of Nathaniel Drew, “One of the ways that I break cycles, is by changing my environment.”

This applies to seasons as well: one of the ways we can break cycles is by changing seasons in our lives.

A job, a marriage, a divorce, a new relationship, all of these things mark the seasons in our lives. Days, months, years – these are all arbitrary. Our brain can grasp onto seasons much easier than these man-made things.

Moral of the story?

Don’t be afraid to take a leap, it might be the best thing you ever do.
